Why o Why….
When you do a search on your computer using Windows XP built in search mechanism, XP uses explorer.exe to execute your search. For some reason this process has a high priority thread setting and since searching is a reasonably intensive job it starts to use a lot of cpu time. But WTH! Does every thing else has to freeze because of that? Bill seems to say yes, I say NO (or it could be because I have single core cpu… boring old.. ye I know…) so what’s my fix for this? Ctrl+Alt+Del -> Lower priority of explorer to normal ! Yihaa no more freezes.
Yes, the search won’t be finished as fast as with ‘high’ priority but.. you think I care when searching in 3 different explorer screens on 3 different keywords? Com’on Microsucks optimize this stuff 😀
